Who do you want to become? Choose the quality you want to start with

The Journey to becoming the best version of yourself
Season 1 · Chapter 1 — The Choice · Article 3 of 5

In the previous session, you took a moment to reflect on your life and identify where you’re starting from.

Knowing where you’re starting from is essential, but the journey also requires a direction.

That’s why the question today is different:

Who do you want to become?

Not what you want to own.
Not what you want to achieve.
Not who you think others expect you to be.

The person you want to become isn’t a perfect person

When we think of our “best self,” we tend to imagine a distant figure who is always confident, strong,
serene, and capable of handling any situation without making a mistake.

They are someone who is more aware of their own choices. Someone who learns to listen to themselves, to recognize what matters, and to act in a way that is increasingly consistent with the life they want to build.

It means recognizing a possibility that already exists within you and deciding to give it more space.
Right now, you just need to allow yourself to see what’s there.

You don’t have to erase your past, imitate someone else, or suddenly change who you are.

You can start with a quality.

Transformation doesn’t happen overnight

The person you want to become doesn’t just magically appear at the end of the journey.

It gradually takes shape through:

Every thought, every choice, and every action adds something to the person you’re becoming.

This means you don’t have to wait until you feel completely ready.

You can start right now, right where you are.

You don’t have to change everything today

When we want to improve our lives, we often try to change too many things at once.

What quality do I most want to bring into my life?

Choosing just one quality allows you to give the change a concrete direction.

But real change doesn’t necessarily come from a huge decision. It often starts with a small, clear, and achievable choice.

It doesn’t mean limiting yourself. It means identifying where to start.

Trust

Maybe you need some confidence today.

Not the certainty that everything will go exactly as you wish, but the willingness to believe that you can try, learn, and face whatever comes your way.

Trust can mean stopping to seek others’ approval, listening more to your intuition, or giving yourself a chance before you know every answer.

What would I do today if I had a little more confidence in myself and my path?

Calm

Perhaps the quality you want to cultivate is calm.

Being calm doesn’t mean not feeling emotions, ignoring problems, or standing still.
It means creating a space between what happens and the way you choose to respond.

Staying calm can help you avoid letting haste, fear, or confusion make decisions for you.

It can start with a breath, a pause, or the choice not to respond right away.

Clarity

Maybe you need some clarity.

Clarity doesn’t mean having the entire future already mapped out. It means recognizing what matters right now.

It can mean setting a priority, distinguishing between what you want and what you do out of habit, or saying “no” in order to preserve a more important “yes.”

When you feel lost, try asking yourself:

What is the one essential thing I don’t want to lose sight of anymore?

Courage

Maybe you’ll choose courage.

Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s the decision not to let fear always have the last word.

Sometimes courage is visible: changing course, making a decision, or having a difficult conversation.

Other times, it’s silent: asking for help, admitting how you feel, starting over, or allowing yourself to want something different.

Ask yourself:

What small step would I take today if I didn’t wait for my fear to disappear completely?

Choose what can support you today

Don’t choose the kind of quality you think you need to prove to others.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer, and no one quality is better than another.

Choose the one that can support you during this time in your life.

You may find yourself longing for confidence during a time of uncertainty, calm during a stressful period, clarity when facing a decision, or courage when you know it’s time to take action.

Choosing quality should be a guiding principle, not just another reason to judge yourself.

You don’t have to be able to say, “I’m always a brave person.”

You can start by saying:

“Today, I choose to bring a little more courage to my next decision.”

From words to everyday life

A quality takes on meaning when it becomes part of real life.

If you choose to trust, you can take action without constantly seeking confirmation.

If you choose to stay calm, you can pause before reacting.

If you choose clarity, you can write down your priorities and set aside some space for them.

If you choose courage, you can take on a task that you keep putting off.

The action doesn’t have to be a big one.

It must be recognizable, feasible, and consistent with the quality you have chosen.

That’s how the person you want to become begins to take shape: not through a perfect statement, but through repeated choices.

A symbol to remember your choice

During a transition, it can be helpful to associate the chosen quality with a symbol.

A word written in a notebook, a stone, an image, or jewellery can serve as a daily reminder of your intention.

The symbol won’t change your life for you, and it won’t walk the path for you.

It can, however, remind you of the right direction when haste, fear, or old habits try to lead you astray.

In this sense, jewellery doesn’t just represent who you are right now.
It can guide the person you’ve chosen to become and remind you of the qualities you want to bring to your decisions.

Your exercise for today

Take a few minutes and complete these sentences:

The person I want to become approaches life with more __________.

Today, I’m choosing the quality of __________.

To start living it, today I can __________.

Don’t look for the perfect answer. Write down the first word that truly resonates with what you’re going through right now.

Then choose a simple action to take by the end of the day.

The Choice Continues

You’ve figured out where you are.

Now you’ve started to put a face to the person you want to become.

The next step is to turn this direction into a concrete way of life.

You don’t have to change everything today.

Choose a quality. Observe it. Carry it with you as you make your next decision.

Which would you choose: Trust, Calm, Clarity, or Courage?

Write it in the comments on the Instagram post and finish the sentence:

“Today I’m choosing __________ because I want to become a more __________ person.”

In the next installment, we’ll see how to turn your choice into a simple, repeatable action, so that your decision doesn’t remain just an intention but begins to become part of your life.
