THE ORIGINS:

Tiger's eye is a fascinating and highly valued stone, mined mainly in South Africa, Australia, India and the USA. Each deposit gives the stone particular characteristics: for example, South African ones have intense golden and brown hues, while Australian ones tend toward darker shades.

It is formed through a geological process involving the transformation of crocidolite (a type of asbestos) into quartz, while retaining the original fibrous structure. This gives the stone its characteristic optical effect called "chatoyance" or "catlike," similar to the appearance of a feline's eye.
