THE ORIGINS:

The name "selenite" comes from "Selene," the Greek goddess of the moon. The name was introduced by the swedish chemist and mineralogist Johan Gottschalk Wallerius (1709-1785).

Other names for selenite, some of which are now outdated, are leaf gypsum, female ice, gypsum glass, spar gypsum and late gypsum, as well as silk gypsum.

This stone helps cleanse the environment of negative energies and also eliminates fears by giving a sense of peace.

This crystal usually occurs as a tabular, cross-linked, columnar structure. These crystals usually have no inclusions, so they are transparent.

Selenite, when cut in a suitable way, exhibits fluorescence, which is an emission property of absorbed light.

Selenite gemstone is a flexible stone but can break if subjected to too much pressure. This Crystal can be easily cut and is carved into various shapes to be sold in the market.

Selenite is a soft mineral and should be kept dry. Continuous exposure to moisture can cause it to degrade over time. Selenite is extremely abundant and can be found in almost all countries in the world.
