THE ORIGINS:

The history of pyrite dates back to prehistoric times, even back then, some scientists theorized its use.

The Incas considered this stone an excellent tool for magic and meditation. It is also considered a good luck stone, in fact some nicknames given to it are: Fortune Stone and Wealth Stone.

It is also associated with mental strength, abundance and imaginative creativity.

The name pyrite is derived from the Greek pyrites lithos and means "stone that kindles fire."

In fact, again in ancient times, it was used together with another mineral such as flint, beating both produced sparks that ignited fire.

This stone was traded for gold and was nicknamed "fool's gold".

Examples such as Englishman Martin Frobisher, John Smith and others traded pyrite for gold.

Rainbow pyrite is exclusive to Russia, but common pyrite is found in numerous locations around the world. Some areas are renowned for special characteristics:

• Italy: known for the excellent quality of its pyritohedral crystals.
• Peru: hosts vast deposits with large pyrite crystals.
• Spain: famous for its perfectly formed crystals and regular cubes often found in clear matrix.
• Tanzania: site of a new deposit with crystals of unusual and complex shapes.
• United States: offers a wide variety of shapes - cubes and pyritohedrons from Utah, interconnected structures from Colorado, flat "suns" (pyrite dollars) from Illinois, octahedral crystals from Pennsylvania, and tubular or globular formations from Ohio.

CLEANING AND RECHARGING:

Clean the pyrite regularly, wash it in warm water with soap and rinse thoroughly. To prevent oxidation, wipe it with a soft cloth.

In case of oxidation, use an anti-rust solution and rinse thoroughly.

Store it in a dry environment and keep away from other minerals such as calcite and other carbonates.
