THE ORIGINS:

Kyanite: the blue gemstone of mental and spiritual clarity

The name "kyanite" comes from the Greek kuanos (blue), while the term "distene" means "double strength," referring to its variable hardness.

In 1995, one of the best gemstone kyanite deposits ever found was discovered in Nepal, characterized by a deep blue reminiscent of that of the finest sapphires. Prior to this discovery, the available varieties were mainly light to medium blue.

Kyanite is an aluminum silicate mineral, belonging to the same family as andalusite and sillimanite. It forms mainly in metamorphic rocks such as slate and gneiss, developing elongated crystals.
