THE ORIGINS:
Its name comes from the official Sri Lankan language Sinhalese and means stone of many colours.
Its history goes back thousands of years.
Theophrastus, (Greek philosopher), began to take an interest in this coloured stone and to research its properties. He discovered that if it was heated it acquired pyroelectric properties.
As time passed in the years to come, black tourmaline was also used in magic to protect against negative forces.
It is a mineral that belongs to the silicate family.
It is found in Brazil, Africa, the United States, India, Madagascar, Afghanistan, Russia and Angola.
