Agate's name comes from the Greek "achtes," which is the river where it was mined.

PROPERTIES, CHARACTERISTICS AND BENEFITS:

Agate is a mineral that belongs to the quartz group; it has different colours or different shades of a single colour.

One of the most distinctive features of agate are the geodes, these spherical formations may contain amethyst or rock quartz crystals in their interior.

It is a bringer of calm and instills peace and tranquility.

This stone helps us feel rooted with Mother Earth.

It is an excellent "good luck charm," able to attract abundance, health and longevity. It gives strength on all levels, both physical and mental, due to its powerful energetic power.

This stone is able to strengthen the body and mind, instilling a sense of confidence, security, courage and determination.

It maintains contact with reality assisting us in solving problems calmly without scattering.

Jewellery with this stone has a meaning of protection, concentration and rebalancing of the chakras; in fact it is wonderful associated with its colours in meditation:

Red for the first centre, the root, orange for the second, the sacral, yellow for the third, the solar plexus, green for the fourth, the heart, blue for the fifth, the throat, indigo for the sixth, the third eye, and purple for the seventh, the crown.

It is often used therapeutically, in localized treatments, such as holding a piece of agate on the painful area for a few minutes. It protects against negative influences.

Place the stone in cold salt water, letting it soak for a few hours, or place it on a natural family of amethyst or rock crystal. Sun and moon baths also regenerate its vitality.
